Reproducing Historical Dress

Saturday 6 May 2006

Examine historical dress from Brighton Museum’s Collection and learn how to make patterns to create your own costumes.

This session is suitable for beginners with a general knowledge of dressmaking.

Led by dressmaker Teresa Parker and Eleanor Thompson, Curator of Costume, Brighton Museum & Art Gallery.

All materials provided.

Making Edwardian Dress

Examine historical dress from the Messel Collection and make a pattern for your own reproduction Edwardian dress.

This session is suitable for experienced dressmakers with knowledge of pattern making. Participants will have the opportunity to handle and examine period garments and analyse some of the problems and issues in working from historic garments.

Led by dressmaker Teresa Parker and Eleanor Thompson, Curator of Costume, Brighton Museum & Art Gallery.

All materials provided.
